Frequently Asked Questions.
Who will teach me?
White Rose Shotokan Karate Association was founded by Sensei Rob Taylor. He has been a full-time karate instructor for almost 20 years with a karate career spanning over 30 years. Currently graded to 4th Dan (Yondan) and training hard towards his next grading examination. Sensei loves his karate and has an infectious love of training, which he inevitably passes on to his students. Training and teaching at the highest levels and with the most senior karate instructors from around the world. He has coached students to black belt standard and beyond. Men, Women, Boys and Girls. Sensei Rob has a fun personality and is quick to put students at ease.
Assisting Sensei Rob with the running of the club is Sensei Sophie Sice who has trained with Sensei Rob for the past 15 years. Sophie is a 2nd Dan and is currently working hard towards her 3rd Dan examination. Sophie is a fully qualified Shotokan Karate instructor within our association. A former National Senior Ladies Kata champion Sophie is very technical and has an eye for detail when teaching. She is fantastic with our Junior members and is always happy to help in her usual enthusiastic manner. Sophie is known for her kicking ability and natural flexibility which often feature in her sessions. White Rose Shotokan Karate Association are really pleased to have Sophie on board, assisting us wherever she can, a definite asset to our organisation.
Our karate association is available for anyone who wants to learn the Japanese art of Shotokan Karate. Each individual has their own reason for training. Whether that’s to improve their fitness, gain some much needed confidence or take part in competitions and gain that all allusive black belt. We are a family run, local karate group that wants to promote the highest levels of Shotokan Karate to our local communities within Leeds and Wakefield.
